WASHINGTON, D.C., July 14, 2014 – Global Impact and CollaborateUp announced today that they will co-host CollaborateUp Academy, an exclusive executive education program for leaders looking to maximize their social impact. Designed for leaders from the public and private sectors, CollaborateUp Academy teaches concrete skills and tools for accelerating social innovation and strategic philanthropy.

CollaborateUp Academy will be hosted at Global Impact’s headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, August 20 – 22. This three-day training session and “proving ground,” brings together leaders from companies and nonprofits to take on real problems and quickly develop concrete plans for tackling them. Participants leave with skills, tools and action plans they can apply immediately and they also become certified Collaborators.

“We’re excited to partner with a world class institution like Global Impact to bring the best of Lean Startup techniques to organizations and leaders looking to quickly start and scale social innovations,” said CollaborateUp CEO Richard Crespin. “Whether you’re a nonprofit looking to engage companies, a company looking to expand your social impact, or a social entrepreneur trying to start something new, CollaborateUp Academy will give you the step-by-step process to increase your impact, cut your cost and accelerate bringing your innovation to scale.”

CollaborateUp Academy participants join an interactive proving ground to quickly learn, test and develop concrete skills and plans for tackling society’s toughest problems. This training will prepare participants to:

  • Lead colleagues through the CollaborateUp Formula for social innovation
  • Develop Lean Startup social innovations
  • Convene and facilitate large groups of people from multiple organizations/sectors

I soon discovered that it doesn’t really matter whether your introduction to CollaborateUp is through an issue solving workshop, or at an event as Richard brings all the chaos together with his savvy charm and good humour - the most important thing is that you get to engage and work with these great folks! My biggest take out over the past five years of being a part of their world – collaboration is a process and you’re not going to get very far unless you know what problem you’re all trying to solve together. The CollaborateUp framework helps by asking simple questions to help reveal the big answers. - Cate O’Kane, Founder, &co partnership consultancy
“Even with a diverse set of stakeholders and a very limited timeframe, the CollaborateUp Formula allowed us cut through a complex set of issues and develop a concrete and pragmatic proposal for tackling a very tough problem. Richard Crespin is exactly what you want in a facilitator, someone able to bring people together to recognize their shared goals and the best ways to achieve them.” - Amit Ronen Director, George Washington University Solar Institute
